@Crawdaddy1999

I dunno dude... Maybe I'm doing something wrong here but it didn't work for some reason. I'll keep trying though.

Are you using network printer or a local one? If local is it USB or some other cable?

HP Recommended

I am using the printer on a network. The printer is connected to another computer.

HP Recommended

Oh. Well it doesn't solve the problem if it's connected to PC with Windows 7 x64 directly. 😞 Thank you anyway!

Solution Found when using over network

This was done on a 64bit version of windows 7

Go to "Add a printer"

Select the printer in this case a laserjet 1000

window will pop up and say "No driver found"

Click OK

window pops up "Add Printer Wizard" with two columns

the left column says "Manufacturer" and the right one says "Printers"

In the "Manufacturer" column select "Generic"

Then in the "Printers" column select "MS Publisher Imagesetter"

Now click OK

On next window click Next

Then you can click on "Print a test page" to verify

Click Finish when you are done

That's it. I printed this page with no problems 🙂

Pfff, we all did that when the printer is network connected through another PC (XP).... some pages before... no need to write it wide and red . 🙂

Sorry but I just tried that link for the LJ1000 and there are no WIN7 or 8 drivers for the LJ1000 printer.

I wanted to reply to the last post as to where to find the XP driver, so I Googled "HP LJ 1000 driver" and among the first listings was one for HP regarding HP series LJ 1000 available drivers.  This led to the following link:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?pnameOID=45675&locale=en_US&task...

That link shows that there are now drivers for Win 7 both 32 and 64 bit systems as well as other systems.

I have not tried the download since my printer is working fine.

Perhaps HP has stepped up to the plate and provided what is needed for this old work horse.

So, to simsolfin, may I suggest that you copy and paste this link into your browser and it should take you to where you need to go to get the driver you are looking for.

Let us know how you do.  And good luck!!

I just clicked and that link and there are no WIN7 drivers for the LJ1000 printer. Sadly. P.O.'d at HP, I am.

Windows 7 and HP Laserjet 1000 (226884 Views)

So I guess thats 226884 lost sales - actually a lot more:

I will not be buying anything else made by HP. My wife's Pavilion laptop has been nothing but trouble, the HP inkjet printer was ok, but terrifyingly expensive to run. Now we cant use the Laserjet 1000 on Windows 7.

Fiorino's legacy lives on.

I now have a nice little Kodak printer / scanner / copier (yes I know about the Chapter 11). A lifetime buy of ink carts was less than £100. ( = three colour carts for the DeskJet 720 from PC World)

It sits on my Windows Homeserver 2011, and does what printers are supposed to do.

Bye Bye

Firts of all sorry for my english ...

Like most of us, I also have a HP 1000 Win7/64 issue

I followed erpp and Los15 instructions, made Virtual machine with VW Player with Win XP SP3 OS ... Instaled HP 1000 drivers, and changde Printer port to USB virtual port ... Than in Win 7 I followed furder instruction ... and finaly I succeed to print document from Win 7 ...

BUT ... Virtual machine have to be turn ON every time I want to print something 😞  ... Is it posible to do printing  from Win 7 without turning on VM with Win XP OS ? ... I'm  thinking it's NOT possible?

As no driver is available for WIn 7 64 and LJ1000 (agreed we also love it), did the same, but using an old HP XP computer (as my epson scanner also hates win7 64). It works fine but I need to turn on the computer to print on this XP attached printer. The same as a VM, in fact but without buying a WIN 7 full licence to support XP mode that will probably cost as much as .. buying a new printer.  and at the end will even not be possible after Win 8 upgrade. too bad. HP and Microsoft, we love some of your products, but we do not love to change them ... continuously, not enough money to do so. 😞
