HP Photosmart 7520 Wireless
macOS 10.12 Sierra

Trying to print from MacBook Pro with OS 12.10.3 to HP Photosmart 7520 Wireless.  Used to work fine and quickly.  But in recent months there have been an increasing number of intermittent refusals to print.  After opening a document (both Word and PDFs) and clicking on the print command the computer displays the printer name and number of jobs, and it indicates "Ready to Print," but it frequently remains "Idle" and doesn't always print.  Sometimes, if I do nothing and leave it alone, it may print a job several hours later.  Today I asked it to print five jobs and it printed only two.  I have gone through printer power down and power cord disconnection protocols, and have even rebooted the computer and modem.

Hi! @2Ts, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand when you print from your printer you get ready to print but some print jobs will not print.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

What happens when you try to make a copy from your printer?

Please try the steps recommended below.

Reset the printer to clear any hardware issues or error states.
Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
   NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

If the issue still persists, try resetting the print system on your MAC and check if it helps.

Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
Click Printers & Scanners, Print & Scan, or Print & Fax.
Right-click (or Control + click) anywhere inside the Printers window, and then click Reset printing system.
Click Reset or OK.
If prompted, type your username and password, and then click OK.
The printing system resets.
Turn off the printer, wait 5 seconds, and then turn on the printer.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
In the Printers window on the Mac, click the Add button.
Select your printer from the list, and then click Add.
It might take a few seconds before your printer displays in the Printers list.

Hope this helps.

Happy Weekend ahead! 🙂

Hello,

HP Printers - A [software component] will damage your computer message displays when printing or whi...

Your printer might experience a temporary disruption after the credentials on some older versions of Mac drivers were unintentionally revoked. HP has worked with Apple to restore these drivers, but some printers might still be affected.
The symptoms of the disruptions can include the following messages:
  • "HPxyz.framework" will damage your computer
  • Software for "%@" failed to run. (-9927)
  • Can't open "/private/var/spool/cups/tmp/..."
If your printer is still unable to print, follow the instructions below to remove and reinstall the HP printer software.
  1. Double-click the HP Uninstaller icon.

  4. Follow the in-app instructions to uninstall all the HP software from your system.
  5. If you are prompted for credentials to continue, type the User Name and Password, and then click OK.

  6. Once the Uninstaller removes the software, close the HP Uninstaller app.
  7. Type your printer model, and then click Submit.
  8. Under Driver or Driver-Product Installation Software, download the latest software for your printer.
    NOTE:
This might be HP Easy Start, HP Smart, or Mac Printer Driver version 5.1. System administrators and those unable to use HP Easy Start can use HP Easy Admin to download the software pkg files directly for use in managed or remote deployment environments.
  9. Once the download completes, open the software and follow the prompts to complete installation.
  10. For Mac Printer Driver version 5.1, open System Preferences, and then open Printers & Scanners to re-add your printer.
