I can connect via the uniquie server page but the pass word i try and use it will not except and lock me out , i even try hard wiring and says hp instant will stop the priner from priner , the cartidges installed are instant ink ones . I need to print regualy if you cannot provide reliablity ease of use , etc then im sorry i got to chalk this up and go with another priner .

Hello @Artrocker,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I understand that you're experiencing problems with your printer when you switch your network names for security reasons. I would be happy to help you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.

First, I would like to explain what is likely happening.

When you talk about the server page, that would not be accessible after you make changes to the network. The printer's embedded web server is completely different than your wireless network settings. Administrator settings help keep unwanted users from being able to access your printer and changing any settings.

Once you change the network settings in the router, the printer will immediately be bumped off the network. You will not be able to pull up the printer's embedded web server using the IP address because it would no longer be on the network.

To clear the administrator password on the printer's homepage we need to restore network defaults:

To restore network settings to default settings

  • Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button (X) from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for three seconds.

This particular printer has limited settings on the front panel menu. You would be better off with a printer that has a front panel menu with the Wireless Setup Wizard if you need to reconfigure the wireless often.

Instead of having to use USB to Wireless setup to reconfigure the wireless each time, you can use Wi-Fi Direct.

Please see the manual for using Wi-Fi Direct.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance. 🙂
