I have been on WOW way for my internet and telephone services until a few weeks ago when I switched to Xfinity. I needed to use my fax machine today and I realized the Tech didn't tell me anything about hooking it up to the modem! I talked to a Tech today and he said I could put a splitter on the modem and plug in my landline and the fax machine. I can send a fax fine but the machine isn't receiving a fax. I thought this fax machine was also wireless so I didn't have to have a landline phone. Can someone please help me to set this up? Thanks!

Hey @Angelwings2000,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that you are having some issues with setting up the fax for your Laserjet M127fw Printer. I can help you with that.
First, the printer is wireless, however wireless refers to connecting to a wireless network. The printer still needs to have a fax cable connected to the back of the printer and a modem to be able to print.
That said, this document should assist you with troubleshooting fax issues with your printer.

Hi!
I put a splitter on the back of my modem and placed 1 line going to the phone and the other going to the fax machine. I could send a fax but not receive one. I called Comcast and because their voicemail comes on first the fax won't pick up. there is no distinguished ring on Comcast so the fax would never be recognized. The only way she said I could receive a fax is to now exactly when one is coming in and disconnect the phone from the modem and only have the fax connected. 😞
Thanks for replying but there doesn't seem to be a way around this issue!

Having a fax service that answers means that the fax machine can't automatically receive faxes. If you set the printer to manually accept a fax (when you are at the printer and know one is coming) then you should be able to receive the fax. Outside of that, you would need to replace the answering service with an answering machine, purchase a second line for the fax machine, or have two phone numbers and set the printer up for distinctive rings.
Please let me know if this helps resolve your issue.
