Hi @WC0501,

I'd like to help!

Of course it fixes the problem but that shouldn't matter. I want to use my cartridges that I have been using for years. Updates should not prevent me from using a product the way I want to use it.

Jay,

I have HP Black ink cartridge in the printer and its works fine , now I have to go and spend additonal funds on the other three cartridges and they will work .  Why cannot HP remove this chip ID function with another software update ?  Again this was not an issue the ink cartridges were working perfect .  Now i have a useless printer at home .

Has HP offered a solution to this problem? It seems preposterous for me to spend over $400 for toner cartridges because they have the HP logo on them when I only paid $300 for the entire printer, If this is indeed the case, landfills will be seeing the entire printer loaded with Genuine HP cartridges after they run out. I too have the issue with non-Genuine HP chip recognized on cartridges that worked great a week ago. If you want to be helpful, reply to my post publicly so that everyone on this post can benefit from the information. If you can't, don't bother with:

Because you aren't solving anything.

HP Agent left a private message to share details of the printer. i shared all the details such as model number, serial number etc. I donn't think I have received any responses.

Noticing the number of people who has problem with the HP printers, I feel this is the time to file a class action suit on HP. Any suggestions of Attorneys who can help us?

@SaiSaiSai,

I have not received any private messages from your end.

Could you resend it to me?

Thanks!

I'm buying a new, non-HP printer as soon as possible. This is crazy!  I called tech support, talked to a supervisor...no help!

I totally agree! I'm so pissed right now.

Here's is what I found out, The third party toner cartridges are either using a non HP identification chip or an outdated one. I purchased a set of spent HP toner cartridges on eBay, meticulously removed the chips in the 3rd party cartridges and replaced them with the ones from the genuine HP spent cartridges and some 2 sided tape to hold them in place. Worked perfectly! In the future you will need to make sure your replacements use current genuine HP chips or replace the chips yourself. Hope this helps

I also submitted a complaint from their web site and was contacted by an escalation agent. Agent sent me a brand new black toner cartridge and a $250 coupon to purchase the colored cartridges when they are back in stock.
