Envy 4500 All in one
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

So this has been a constantly reoccuring problem with a recent purchase i made with my all in one. Where i can print over wifi direct (After forcing an instalation via manual driver installer) I can only use the other features of the device while im connected to an internet connected modem.

Ive tried to use the installer disk AND the all-in-one download from the site and the only option it is even giving me is ' HP Envy 4500 (Network)' option after i had uninstalled it several times. When i try to connect directly to 'HP ENVY 4500 Series class drivers the troubleshooters gets to network connections then flat out shuts itself down then uses my full laptops CPU for about 30 to 60 seconds before the helper and my onboard sensor flashes alerts that 'scan to computer has been lost' yet as SOON as i connect to the internet the alert goes away. Am i restricted to a soon to be lost internet acess to do anything besides printing?

Hi @Jcbq,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that you are wondering if you can scan over Wireless Direct with your HP Envy 4500 on Windows 8.1. I am happy to look into this for you!

According to this article, Printing with HP Wireless Direct, and page 17 of your printer's user guide. Wireless Direct supports printing only. The other functions, such as scanning, will need to be used via another type of connection. You can use a Modem/Router to connect wirelessly, or a USB 2.0 Printer Cable directly from the printer to the computer. Copying will still work either way.

For help installing on a wireless connection, please see this guide, Setting Up the Printer Software for a Wireless Network for the HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One and HP Desk....

For help, with a USB connection, please see this guide, Download and Install Your Windows HP Printer Driver and Software for a USB Cable Connection.

Hope this answers your question, and if I misread your post, please let me know! :generic:
