can not open Twain default SOURCE.....and then scanner does not respond

I have a 3 in 1 printer and i was trying to scan a document but when i installed read iris pro 11 and run the application it says "can not open Twain default SOURCE" and a OK icon with it....and when i press OK and another window appears which says, " scanner does not respond."

What happens when you scan using the HP Scan to Program as following?

If you do not have the full software are you able to scan using Windows fax and Scan as following?

Read IRIS Pro 11 is an older version, it is only compatible with Windows XP and not with later OS versions such as Windows 7, that may cause a such due to incomaptibility of the software with the operating system, you may find that information listed in he following link:

I still can't use it....

when i use HP Scan....it says,"to get started, connect the scanner".........but it is already connected to USB 2.0

when i use windows scan and fax.....it says, " no scanner is detected. make sure it is powered on and connected to the computer.
