I am using a HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw with Windows 7 Pro or Windows 8 Pro
What I would like to do is perform duplex scanning with this product. I am currently looking for freeware software which will give me the ability of merge two documents together. I have found some very buggy software which works in linux. Is there a method that will allow me to scan 2-sided documents into a single scan using this product? If not, do you know of a freeware software or HP supported software which will convert two seperate documents into a single document.

Hey Ryan,
Looking at the product specs for this printer I was able to see that it does not support automatic duplex scanning. However, if you open the HP Scan or HP Laserjet Scan software on your PC, then there may be a checkbox at the very bottom right to allow for duplex scanning. The settings will have to be set to the Automatic Document Feeder or ADF for this option to appear.
If this feature is not present, then the next best option will be to use a PDF Merging software as you were mentioning. Take a look at PDF Split and Merge (PDF Sam for short). I will provide a link below to this software download for convenience.
Hope this helps,
Jason

For windows 8, you can also use the HP Scan and Capture app. If you scan as a document, it allows you the option of adding scans then saving as one pdf file.

Are you talking about scanning in a multipaged document a single page at a time, front and back?
I have been doing that for a couple years with an HP flatbed scanner and bought the product which includes a feeding tray for larger documents. I like this feature because I can scan in large multi-paged documents and turn my attention to other assignments on my desk. I am wondering if there is a solution that I could utilize with the HP software packages that allows me to reorganize and put together a document that was scanned from the tray feeder.

Jason, I have worked with the program you referred and liked it. Don't like the massive amounts of advertisments that came with it but developers need to be payed somehow...:smileyhappy:
Thanks for the solution.

The HP Scan and Capture App can scan from the flatbed or the ADF but you can only scan one side of the page at a time. However, you can add pages to the file before you save it.
The other option you have with this product is to set up the file to network folder and that will give you the option to save multipage 2 sided documents. I tested this and it was approximately a 5minute process with the Scan to network wizard, which is loaded when you install the software.

I downloaded and attempted to use this. It does work, but it is not very usefull. It adds the aditional pages to the end of the previous scan. It does not correctly interleave the pages together. For a good example of how this should work check out the Canon MP Navigator. Canon did a fantastic job. Maybe HP could add something better. I am replacing a Canon inkjet printer with a HP Laserjet. I am going to really miss this capabality.
It also slowes the scan process to an almost unbareable rate.
What is really SAD is that I just found out that the functionality that we want is included with the Officejet Pro 8600, which sells for 1/3 the price of the Pro 200. Why did HP decide to not include it in the software for the Pro 200?
