Hi There,
I'm trying to set up my scan to email using the web interface to the printer (from my Mac).
I enter my email server info exactly as my email client is configured, but when I test, I get the following error:
Cannot resolve the SMTP server. Check this setting with your system administrator or Internet Service Provider.
The specified server is smtp.cogeco.ca and the port is 25. No authorization is required (Cogeco is my ISP, and I'm on their network). I can telnet to the server from my Macbook over port 25, and both my Macbook and the printer are connected to the Cogeco network using the same WiFi router.
I can scan to a Network Folder in my LAN without any problems.
I would love to get the Scan to eMail feature working, but without any other details of the connection problem, I can't see how to proceed.
Any suggestions?

Hi Spin2Win,
I understand you are trying to setup the scan to email.
I will be happy to help you.
I have provided a document for How to Scan: From the Control Panel. Select Scan to an email.
If you are still having issues then go into the printer's Embedded Web Server by typing in the printer's IP address in your web browser.
Click the Network tab, then click on IP4 config on the left side.
Click on Network Address (IP)
Select Manual.
Type in the printer's information and IP address.
Set the DNS Address Configuration as Manual.
Set the preferred address as 8.8.8.8
Set the Alternate address as 8.8.4.4 and confirm the changes.
Try setting it up again.
Hope this helps.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
Have a wonderful day!

That's it!
I hadn't set the DNS server:
Set the DNS Address Configuration as Manual.
Set the preferred address as 8.8.8.8
Set the Alternate address as 8.8.4.4 and confirm the changes.
Doing that got everything working.
Thanks!

Hi sazzer,
I see by your post that you don't have the option to change the DNS. I can help you with this.
The printer might need a firmware update. The latest Verions is 20140521. HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw Drivers.
I checked out our Lab and the printer doesn't have the option either to change the DNS on it, the firmware is 2012.
Select your operating system, click next, click the link for firmware.
I did check the Network Summary and it already did show the DNS set.
Here is a screen shot.
Under Network Information, it looks like you can change the settings there.
Let me know how you make out.
What operating system are you using?
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
Thank You.

Hi I'm having the same issue where the fields to manually set DNS settings don't exist.
I've upgraded the firmware as per the previous post, but I havn't noticed any changes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've tred re-applying the update, restarting the pritner, unplugging/replugging the power on the printer, but I can't see any difference.

Hi @Chi3f ,
I see that you are also having the same issues for setting the DNS. I would like to help.
On your screen shots, it looks like you have the IPv4 configuration selected. Click on Network Information, to change the settings there.
In the second screen shots it doesn't look like the firmware updated to the lastest firmware. Depending what operating system you are using. Under Windows 7, the latest is Version 20140718. Yours is showing 20140521.
If the issue persists, try updating the firmware again, but by a USB connection.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
Have a great day!
Thank You.

Hi @med_song ,
I see that you are experiencing issues scanning to email. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Did you setup a Static IP and set the DNS?
What email client are you using?
What settings are you using:
Host Name:
Port: (you have tried 25,587,465)
SSL:
The SSL should be set to on.
From the printer's control panel, make sure all the wake events are on.
Go to Setup, System Setup, Energy Settings, Wake Events.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
Have a great day!
Thank You.
