I have an Envy 4500, but I am unable to scan multiple pages as a single document/file. When I scan a page, there is no prompt asking if I want to scan another page as part of the same document, nor is there a plus sign on the left side of the window that I see mentioned by others. What can I do?

Hi acadia01,
Ic an certainly help you to scan multiple pages. Can you please post back with your operating system and version, Mac or Windows?
Also, if you could post a screenshot of what you see that might help me too. How to take and post a screenshot on HP Support Forum.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your assistance. The operating system is Windows. Here are two screen shots. When I click Save on the second screen shot, a Save As dialog box pops up. I save it, and once it's saved, the same screen as the second screen shot comes back without any prompts or way to add a second page to the first page that has already been scanned.

Hi acadia01,
I see the problem. You are definitely missing the add a page icon. TO resolve the issue, I think it would be best to uninstall and reinstall the software.
- Hold down the Windows Logo key (
) on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type %temp%
- Delete all files and folders from the temp folder. Choose skip if any pop ups appear saying any of the files could not be deleted
- Uninstall the software again - Uninstalling the Printer Software Instructions
- When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
- Follow these steps to reset the registry settings and options for Windows Installer.
- Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
- In the Open box, type msiexec /unregister, and then click OK.
- Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
- In the Open box, type msiexec /regserver, and then click OKIf you have any difficulty with this step, please use this link to perform it another way. Restarting Windows Installer
- Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tool < How to Delete files using Disk Cleanup
- Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
- Restart the computer
- Download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows
The HP Printer Install Wizard for Window was created to help Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 users download and install the latest and most appropriate HP software solution for their HP Printer.
Once the software is installed again, please try to scan and let me know if you have the multiple page icon.
I look forward to hearing from you.

I am running Windows 7. I took the software out with the HP Print and Scan doctor, and put it back in using the online software. No + sign. I used the HP Print and Scan doctor again, and put the software in with the DVD that came with the printer-scanner, and no + sign.
What do I do?

I did everything as told, uninstalling and reinstalling according to your directions.
Here is after I click the save button after first scan:
Then I rotated the page on the scanners, sat back down at my computer and clicked save again:
I saved that scan. This third picture shows a screenshot of the scan screen and the saved .pdf file:

Hi woshidaveyboy,
THis might be a shot in the dark but what about the the option in the Advanced settings to create a separate file for each scanned page. If there is a check mark there, that might explain why you do not have the option to scan a second page.
If there is a check mark here, please remove it click okay and try scanning again. Keep me posted.
