Just a tip:  I keep all my software downloads on an Ext HD, which come in very useful when items disappear after Windows upgrades.   I heartily agree with you about Windows upgrades & HP (maybe many other printer manufacturers, as well), not supporting older printers.  If you are wanting to scan documents in .pdf format, I discovered that Foxit Reader (free download) has a way to do this.  When open, you will see on the Home page 'From Scanner', Click this, then select your printer (TWAIN), click Print then the old familiar scanner options will open for you to select the one needed.

This is the answer, after HOURS of install/reinstall, it's the d**n Security update.  I don't know how to move this answer to the top of the queue, but great work!

thank you greenturtle. I also lost 3 hours of my life uninstalling and reinstalling printer drivers and software and your solution was spot on. Disabling the security update did the trick.

GREENTURTLE = CHAMPION!
I lost my HP Solution Centre today and greenturtles fix had the HP Solution Centre up and running again. Followed the instructions, restarted the PC and voila!
Thanks mate, was about to take the header advice and download the 8.1 drivers...which in hindsight would be stupid as the printer still worked just not the HP sol cent. Thanks again for a fix that works!

In my case, the Windows 10 updates includes KB3133431 and there is no reference to KB3132372,  so based on this, Solution Center software should work. Unfortunately when I click the scan button in Solution Center, I always get an error message saying that another progam or computer is using the networked imagimng device. I can scan using the webscan software but I don't want to use that. I want to use HP Soluton Center if that is possible.

Any ideas?

Things work now. I decided to reinstall solution center software and after that, it works.

I'm a bit lost here. Everyone is thanking you for this fix but when I click the link you provided it goes to a flashplayer update. I still have no H Solutions Center software. It vanished with Win 10 and even the ink level monitor is gone.

Also should add that the HP support site doesn't include this software in its software/drivers downloads for any version of windows.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @JoeTwoPointOh

The Solution Center uses the Flash player and the MS update had a bug that crashed Solution Center.

Hence, that Flash player update is supposed to fix the Solution Center issue.

Do try it out.

Thanks.
