HP 4650 All in one printer
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

How do I load legal size paper into my HP4650 all in one printer. The tray seems to only hold 8.5 X 11 sheets. I can load a legal document into the doc feeder for copying, so the printer must be able to load legal size too!

With some printers, you have to press a (usually blue?) release lever near the front of the tray to extend it at the front for longer media sizes.

I've no idea whether or not this applies to your model, sorry.

I was so excited when I saw your question because it was exactly what I was about to ask! I've had my printer only about a month and have not had the need to print on legal-size paper until now. I couldn't get the paper to go all the way in, it seemed, and finally the window above the paper tray lit up and showed options, one of which was type of paper. I chose that and then chose legal. It was great after that! :generic:

  • For legal size paper: Leave the input tray door open. A portion of the legal size paper sticks of the printer.

What they don't tell you anywhere ... 1) open tray 2) insert legal size paper 3) it won't fit and will stick out 4) slide tray closed without closing the lip of the tray 4) when prompted on printer display screen press LETTER then select LEGAL 5) go to printer & make sure paper size in printer dialog box is set for legal 6) print
