Just bought and installed hp Laserjet Pro 400  m451dn  (replaced a 1993 dated hp Laserjet 4p that still works but just was too darned slow - I hope this one lasts 19 years too!! 🙂 )

I've gone into printer preferences,  printing shortcuts tab,  changed the settings to "letter" and "black and white" and save as "black&white everyday"    Close control panel.

I use it once to print something, its fine.

The next time I goto print something, its back to "general everyday printing" which is the factory first in the list and set to "color".

HOW do I get it to always, from all computers, use  some setting that is by default black and white???

How do I get it to always from all computers use one of the printing shortcuts without having to go into preferences everytime I print?

More options than I'm used to I guess!

Thanks very much!

The Laserjet Pro 400 is a commercial class laserjet. You will be able to find better support options and more troubleshooting information in the Business Laserjet forums.

However, below is a picture of the Printing Preferences as they appear for this printer:

Under the Color tab, as seen above, selecting Print in Grayscale will set the driver to print in Black and White for future printouts.
