How do I enable scan from HP 8600 to Mac OS X 10.5.8?  There is no scan to computer option when I open HP Utility. Thanks

I have been scanning by Selecting System Preferences then click on Print and Fax icon then click on scan (to change from print) then click on Open Scanner Then click on scan.  I then select Print, PDF and mail.  However, now when I click on Open Scannner, I get a pop up stating No Scanner selected.  When I select Scan from the printer, I get a message No Computer Connection.   Al  [Email was edited by Moderator]

The multi-functional printer works great!

However, I cannot get the SCAN option to work to the MAC.  There are no files to open that are suggested.

I shut down my computer and restarted it. That solved my problem. Thanks.

I gave up on trying to use an HP solution for OS 10.8.3. That's pretty lame they released a printer that doesn't work with the current version of Mac OS!

I am using Image Capture from the "Other" grouping of apps within OS X Launchpad. It seems to work pretty well.

Hope that helps.

It appears that with OSX 10.8.3 the HP Utility (12.23.0) does not provide Scan to Computer as an option. Scan To E-mail and Scan to Network Folder are both visible, however. This seems quite odd, but is apparently common from what I am reading here. My workaround is to setup a crappy SMB share, but that is not a desireable long term solution.

Any assistance in resolving this would be appreciated.

Same issue here.  Somehow it worked fine untill we moved our fax machine to Comcast and at same time Comcast upgraded the modem to a modem / wifi router combo unit.

I need an answer.  It is my Boss' machine and the idea of training him to do SMB shares is ... daunting.

Correction.  Fixed.  I re-installed the full package from hp.com/support.  Somehow it now works. I know I did that originally.

BTW I have tried reinstalling and rebooting and this does not solve the problem. I cannot get Scan to Computer to show up in HP Utility in OSX 10.8.3

I would recommend installing the full feature driver if it is available for your version of OS X. You may have the AirPrint drivers installed. Sometimes the full feature drivers work better than AirPrint.

Go into "Print & Scan" under "System Preferences", select your printer and press the minus (-) button.

Now, press the plus (+) button and you should see your printer.

Select it and then below you will see three fields.

Drop down the selections for “Use:” and choose the name of your printer instead off AirPrint.

This will install the full feature drivers.

This should help, but let me know if it doesn’t.

Best of luck,

Kyle
