Hi sweets962,

Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you are having issues printing on the cardstock.
I will be happy to help you.

Here is the supported cardstock paper sizes for this printer. This was provided by

HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3540 e-All-in-One Printer Series Printer Spec...

I have provided this document to check the printer driver settings for the paper type and paper size.

Print Photos Saved on Your Computer (Windows).

Disregard the title.

Can you print alright on other types of paper?

What size is the card stock?

Please let me know if you require any additional assistance.

Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
Have a great day.

Hi sweets962,

Since you are still having the same issue, it doesn't sound like a printer driver settings issue.

Here is a document to go through to clean  the rollers.

A 'Paper Jam' Message Displays on the Control Panel.

Start on Solution two: Clean the paper rollers behind the cartridge access area.

Can you print with regular paper?

Is it supported card stock? (weight)

Thank You.

well, I have a BRAND NEW HP envy 4500 and tried ALL those cardstock and even bought another thin one

and still this piece of junk will jam everytime. It jams on anything heavier than thin printing paper.

Very disgusted. just spent hours,  wasted paper and ink.  My last printer

I had for 9 years and it would print anything and everything and never jam. it was nice and heavy. This one

is ligh and flimsy. I think HP products are going downhill.

Well,  leaving to take this back and get a REAL printer.

I have this as a new printer and I am having trouble with it printing on lets say 5 x 7 and also deli paper.  I have always tried to buy printers that have the paper tray on the top back so it could be pull straight down so I wouldn't have this problem; I had forgotten that until this happened.  Any suggestion.  Thank you for your time and help with this.

Hi @CathyLB

I see by your post that you are having issues printing on different paper sizes. I can help you with this.

What is happening when you are trying to print? (paper jamming, error message)

Can you print on plain paper?

What application are you printing from?

Try another application to see if you have the same results, if it is a software issue.

What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.

How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)

Have a nice day!
Thank You.

I was able to print on 4x6 carstock but no 5x8.... It was exactly the same paper but when I used the second size, it was coming out slanted or completely incorrrect. I REALLY need these printed today and now I need to find somewhere to print them tomorrow. I am very frustrated that this printer is not working properly. I don't have problems with any other paper and also ran off the the test software from your website to make sure nothing was wrong with the computer. My Father-In-Law has a HP printer as well and he had the same issue. Very Dissapointed.

i am having the same issue,

printing invitations; on thinner paper its fine, but on the cardstick 5x7 its having trouble pulling the paper in and if i print one at a time its about a 15% variation from being centered correctly on the page.  if i try to print more than one at a time it gets completely out of whack and will print half off the page etc... what a piece this printer is...

i guess its just not meant to print on heavy paper? it only had 2-3 paper settings (brochure, photo and professional), ive tried them all and all have the same probelm with the feed/printing being not alighed properly.  sad thing is the next 2 models up from HP probably ahve the same guts and will have the same problem??

agreed wtih previous poster top feed printer never had these issues in the past.

anyways i bought the printer on sale before xmas  on a sale thinking i would have it to print these invitations in the spring and here i am stuck with a printed that can only print on thin paper 😞

also, there is no paper setting that i can find for "card", so you can print in the spec "card" sizes but nothing to asjust the paper feeder to accept a thicker stock.
