Hi @1711rob,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that you are wondering if the hp imaging device function 8.0 can be deleted or not. For your HP Deskjet d1420, on Windows 7. I am happy to help!

According to this website, Should I Remove It? It states:

You can uninstall HP Imaging Device Functions from your computer by using the Add/Remove Program feature in the Window's Control Panel.

  1. On the Start menu (for Windows 8, right-click the screen's bottom-left corner), click Control Panel, and then, under Programs, do one of the following:
    • Windows Vista/7/8: Click Uninstall a Program.
    • Windows XP: Click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. When you find the program HP Imaging Device Functions 14.0, click it, and then do one of the following:
    • Windows Vista/7/8: Click Uninstall.
    • Windows XP: Click the Remove or Change/Remove tab (to the right of the program).
  3. Follow the prompts. A progress bar shows you how long it will take to remove HP Imaging Device Functions.

Even though these steps mention HP Imaging Device Functions 14.0. I believe these will work for 8.0 as well.

Hope this information is helpful, and have a nice day! :generic:
