I have Windows 7 & am using the hp officejet 7500a. The option to 'Activate to Scan to Computer' isn't available when I open the product window. All I have is are three option all relating to printing. I can control the scanning from the computer, but not from the scanner/printer, because I can't activate it. I had this option once, but it disappeared for some reason & I have tried uninstalling & then reinstalling the HP software from the disk, but I still just get the printer related options & not the Activate to Scan...' option. I like the option & would like to use it again, but I don't know how to get it back. Thanks for your help....

Hi catsrforme,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you cannot activate scan to computer, with your HP Officejet 7500a. I am happy to help you with this scanning issue!

For further assistance, I will need to know:

In the meantime, please take a look at Solution Six in this scanning guide. A 'No Computer Detected' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays during Scanning.

Hope to hear back from you, and have a nice day! Smiley Happy

Thanks for getting back with me. I am using my printer wirelessly, It can copy and it is plugged into a surge-protecting power strip.

Thanks again.

I had to do a clean re-boot to windows 8, I have HP7500A wide format printer.  The printer is available to any of the home network computers but is directly connected to base computer via USB.  I can print just fine from the computer and I can tell the printer to scan but it is very awkward and only does one sheet at a time and imports as a picture not a document.  I need to be able to scan multiple sheets at the printer with it automatically sent to computer "my documents" folder as before.  there is no button anywhere on the printer control panel to say "activate scan to computer"

as a separate issue.  I purchased this printer to be able to make 12x18 (Arch B) size scaled prints.  I have tried several times to load a custom size and have had no success. please send instructions.

thanks Pat

Hi snyderpat,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

The fact that your scanner is only scanning as a picture and not a document, tells me that you most likely have a driver conflict.

I would suggest the following steps:

Let's give these steps a try, and we will see what happens! :generic:
