My HP 1315 all-in-one machine no longer scans documents. It copies and prints without any issues but I cannot get it to scan. After I place a document on the glass and press the "Scan" button, the "On" light flashes several times, then the machine makes a short sound and then nothing. Can someone help troubleshoot this problem please?

Hello  @SJEFF , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see you're running into scan issues.  I would like to help!

I would recommend performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.

I would also suggest following this document on Blinking Lights.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

Jamieson,

Many thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. I did as you suggested and then tried to scan a document. This time the printer made a number of noises and lights flashed so I was quite hopeful that it was actually scanning the doc. When the noises stopped however no messageappeared on the screen to tell me where to find the scanned document. My printer manual tells me to open up HP Scan to find the scanned document but I cannot find HP Scan under" AllPrograms". Would you be able to tell me where it is or where else I cn look for the scanned document on my PC?

Thanks,

SJEFF

Jamieson,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Read the document and attempted to follow its advice and instructions but still no luck. I will now remove the existing software which is possibly corrupted and reinstall it.
