HP Scanjet G4010
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Have HP Scanjet hooked up to computer runing Windows 7 Professional. When I push the 'scan to pdf' button, a dialog box opens.  In that dialog box is a dropdown box for file type. The only options in that dropdown are BMP, JPG, PNG and TIF. However, I need to scan to a pdf.

Hi @Cshae,

Thank you for reaching out to the HP Support Forums!

I see that you're unable to "scan to a pdf" with your HP Scanjet G4010 Photo Scanner. I would be happy to help you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.

I understand the frustration that you're experiencing. It sounds like there is an issue with Adobe. If Adobe is corrupted, "scan to a pdf" might be missing.

Please follow the steps within this guide:
The PDF File Type Is Not an Option When Scanning from HP Solution Center for HP Multifunction Printers When Using Windows

Please confirm that Adobe is installed and working correctly. Perhaps reinstalling Adobe Reader software would resolve the issue.
Troubleshoot PDF printing | Acrobat, Reader

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck! 🙂
