First of all, have you installed the complete software for your scanner? The files you downloaded are patches to fix existing issues with the software, so teh software has to be installed.

You didnt mention the OS you're using, so open the link below, select your OS and download the driver, which is usually the first option for download.

I had the same thing, having downloaded a whole driver for 3570c online. Always flashed that error message. No idea what solution is, have you solved it? I can get the HP Director icon, but clicking it never takes me anywhere.

Hi,

I have the same issue with a customers computer. I dowloaded the same COL3927 package and the hpqrirec.exe is _still_ missing from the package.

According to the website it's not just a patch - it's the actual drivers and software.

Running XP SP3, tested it on another XP SP3 aswell - same results.

Scanning using hpqscnvw.exe from C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\Bin works as intended.

Just the quickbuttons on the actual scanner, which try to use hpqdirec.exe generate an error message that the software isn't installed.

HP Director shortcut is created to the desktop after installation but points to the exe that does not exist.

Your scanner or printer is an Enterprise/Business/Commercial model.  As these are the consumer forums, I would recommend that you post this in the HP Enterprise Support Forums for better coverage.

You can access the enterprise support forums at the following link.

Best of luck,
Kyle
