HI

My printer was working fine.  Then we moved and Verizon gave us a new router.  I have tried 2 cables between the printer and router and the printer is not registering on the network.  Any ideas why?  When I open printer properties, I am seeing the IP address but when I try to open it in chrome, I get "The webpage is not available"  Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

The new router has 5G which I believe is the same as the old one.

Thanks!!

Hi @ssest,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I see what you're unable to get the printer connected to the new router. I would be happy to help you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.

I can certainly see how frustration that must be, Anytime you change the hardware on the network, it is good practice to restore the network defaults on the printer. The printer will retains the old network configuration.

We need to clear the network settings and try again.
On the printer's front panel menu go to Setup Menu> Network Config> Select Restore Defaults.

Important!
1. Connect the CAT-5 Ethernet cable to an available port on the Ethernet hub or router. Do not
connect the cable to an uplink port on the hub or router. Test the port on a different device on the network to ensure that it is receiving a connection.
2. Connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back of the product.
3. Verify that one of the network lights (10 or 100) is illuminated on the network port located on the
back of the product.

If the issue persists, I recommend that we try the NVRAM Reset. This will set the printer back to factory default settings. The network will be reset again. I can send you that information in a private message. In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.

I hope this helps. Please respond if you have any concerns. I hope you have a great day!

Thanks for the ideas, Drakster!  I tried resetting the network setting but had no luck.  If you can send me the details for a NVRAM reset, I'd appreciate it.

I noticed a comment that some printers will not work on a 5G network.  But, I assume this is not one.  Am I correct?  The router does not allow me to choose 5G vs 2.4G

Many thanks

S

Hi @ssest,

Thanks for the reply.

I sent you the instructions in your inbox already, for the NVRAM Reset.

HP Printers are designed to work on 2.4 GHz networks, not 5.0 GHz. You're  using an ethernet connection, so it is not using the WiFi signal.
NOTE: Most routers are dual band, so they run both 2.4GHz and 5.0 GHz.

Please check the CAT-5 cable and port on the router with another device on the network, to ensure the port /cable are working.

Please respond with the results. Good Luck! 🙂
