Using Windows Vista, HP Photosmart 7515, Belkin 750BD router with latest firmware, when I first start my printer I can use airprint from my iPad or my iPod, but after sometime (a few hours) I can no longer see the printer on either my iPod nor my iPad. If I turn off the Wireless connection on the printer and turn it back on or power off the printer and power it back on, I can see it to airprint again.  In any case, I can wirelessly print to the printer using ePrint and from my desktop computer in all cases, even when I cannot access them with airprint.  I just bought and installed the printer.  Does this sound like a defective printer, or??

Hello,

The first thing I would do is follow step six in this document to set a static IP: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02817031
When it askes for DNS information, enter in Google's DNS. Preferred DNS = 8.8.8.8 Alt DNS = 8.8.4.4

Another thing, and this will sound odd, is to make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet.  Do not use a surge protector or powerstrip.  The printer has a built in surge protector so you do not have to worry.

Shane, the printer is not disappearing from the network, nor is its IP address changing. My desktop computer still finds & prints to it wirelessly just fine, and Network Magic still maps it in the same place. ePrint has no problem finding it, it's only airprint that can't find it. Do you still recommend this approach?

Well it never hurts to set a static IP.  Just makes things more stable, but you do not have to do that.  I would still make sure you do not have a surge protector or anything in between the printer and the outlet, and make sure that you turn everything off and on.

I tried the static IP and printer plugged directly into wall, and still AirPrint failed after 1 to 3 hours or so.  So, I installed a new router (a Netgear N300).  Now AirPrint stays visible.  Problem is solved.  Apparently AirPrint was intermittant due to my Belkin N750 router.

Keatonusa you are correct about the belkin n750 router. It is sporadic and usually only works one time after a power cycle and then shows printer not found until you power cycle again. Glad you got another router that's working for you.

Hi Shane:

About a month ago, i started having an issue with my HP Photosmart C4700.

I started getting a message from my toshiba laptop (Windows 7) indicating that they couldn't find the driver for my printer, although it was available and i could print.

I ignored this message many times, and when i tried to solve it, it kept telling my that i needed to reinstall the driver.

I did it, but the message stil appeared.

About 2 weeks ago, my printer dissapeared from my list of available printers, and i had to reinstall it again. Yesterday it happened again, so i uninstalled it and installed it again. I also turned off AVG Antivirus, just in case this was messing up with the drivers.

Today unfortunatley i shut down the computer and when i turned it on again, the printer was not there, and i still got the same message from the toshiba Action Center, telling me to install my multifunction printer.

I have tried to find over the internet some solution and i found there are certainly MANY HP users with the same kind of problem.

I really hope you can help us out about this one. If so, i will make sure to post it in the forums i found people were mad with HP about this happening.

Thanks,

Fab

I am having a problem with my air printer on IPAD, it functions ok, then after an hour or so, the printer cannot be found. If I power off the IPAD and on again, the printer appears and prints normally. Any suggestions?
