I cannot find the wpa passphrase my printer is asking for, where would I find it?

The WPA passphrase is referring to your network's password.  There is a password set on your network and the printer needs this password put in to connect, just like a laptop would.

The passphrase is sometimes written on the router, but is normally user created.  Did you set this network up?

Also, do you have a computer that uses the network wirelessly?  If so, then I can provide information on how to gather this password out of the PC to then type into the printer.

Just installed a new router; everything on the computer is working great - internet is fine. The printer worked before but not now, I keep getting messages that it's not on the network. I've tried using the wizard and it still doesn't work. I've tried the manul installation but get the wpa passphrasel. I know the password that was setup on the router but it still says its wrong. Any  suggestions - When I tried to run the CD that came with the printer it said Windows 7 and Vista. I have Windows 8; but it ran great before and I was running the same computer. Any help is appreciated.

Hello Retired-Enginee,

If your printer worked before but is not working now due to your new router change, you will need to restore network default settings on the front panel of the printer then re-connect your printer wirelessly as if it were the first day you purchased it.

Hi, i have the Officejet 4500 and when i try to connect to the router it keeps asking me for the WPA password which i type in and it doesn't accept it. Could the reason be that my router is using a WPA2-Personal password and not a WPA?
