Hi @lworks86,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that your HP Laserjet p1606dn printer is in an error state and will not print on Windows 10. And, I am happy to help!
Some questions for you:
- Are you able to print a configuration page? Printing a Configuration Page.
- Do you see any blinking lights on the printer?
In the meantime, please try a hard reset, How to perform a Hard Reset, by @Rich1. And, let me know what happens!

I don't believe that it is the printer itself but the app on the pc. the printer works fine from an ipad. Yes i can print a confirguration page and there are NO blinking lights. When I run Setup_IP4[192_168_1_46]_H[NPI8D7C54].exe on my laptop and choose repair the printer works again. It is just that 5 times now over the past month or so (when I need it most) it fails and it takes awhile for the repair app to run.
I am using a Toshiba Satelite , windows 10 home, os build 10586.36, 64 bit op system and processor
I am not sure if the windows automatic updates are stepping on something or what. I didn't seem to have any issues then it was usb connected.

Hi lworks86,
Thank you for the additional information!
I would suggest to try running our HP Print and Scan Doctor program, and let me know what happens.

Using the HP print and scan doctor showed that my printer was found and listed. When I highlighted it and hit next it said that it was communicating with the printer showing a green bar then said it cound not commumicate with it.
I just installed an app called linksys easylink advisor and it finds the printer on the network and shows that the printer is off line. yet the printer is on and the cat5 is connected to the router. I was using the printer 15 minutes before it just errored out when I tried to print a new document.
i power cycled the router and printer and hit retry, It searches for printers and finds it again, it just won't communicate with it.

is there a way to message on line or call? When the printer gets in to this state I need to re-install the printer because I can't wait for email but then I can't run the dianostics when it is working. I have never tweeted in my life so I tried to set it up and send a tweet but who know what happendthere.

tried to contact HP support but website says it is no longer supported. This is NOT a printer problem but a software problem. The whole reason I bought an HP printer was the name behind it and now I seem to be getting the run around. Something is causeing the printer to be offline or what ever else tells the pc that i can't print to the printer. So please let's try this again.
