Thanks for the suggestions.  I have tried all of the above.  I have also done it again.  I have also fed a piece of card stock half way through and "flossed" it back and forth.  There is DEFINATELY no paper jammed.

I have unplugged the printer for 4 hours and restarted it.

I bought this new back on 6/27/14 therefore it's out of warranty.

Firmware verion: LZP1CN1409BR

Any other tips?  This problem doesn't seem to have a solution, other than replacing the whole ADF.

Hi

Couple more suggestions. Please update your firmware to the latest version. Not promissing it will help with this issue, but I want to rule it out.

This "flossing" idea is interesting. Let me ask you if you did it both directions. There is from the top of the ADF downwards to wear the narrow scanner is. There would also be from bottom to top that would go into the output tray. Not sure how you would get the paper through there, but the green tab would have to be forward.

Does the printer boot to this error, or only when you try and scan/copy?

Hp Assistant is telling me that this is the latest version of firmware.

Flosing: Yes both directions.  Green lever was pushed all the way to the left allowing one end to come out where the smallar glass scanner tray is.

Yes, the printer boots to this error.

Some credit card companies will double the manufacturers warranty if you pay for an item using their card, so did you happen to pay with a credit card?

I also just had a random thought. I wondered what would happen if you just turned off the machine and disconnect at the ADF and then turned the machine back on what it would do...

Wow, those are good ideas.  I'm going to try the disconnect tonight. I've got nothing to lose.

If no luck,  i'll look into the extended warranty.  I'm pretty sure I used paypal though...

I'll post back later tonight.

thanks for your help thus far.

Hi

That is not the current firmware. Suggest you use the control panel to update if the printer is setup to have web access, or download the package I've linked here. 1409 is not current. Current is LZP1CN1502BR from 8 May 2015.

If you paid through Paypal but got the money from a credit card, which is something I sometimes do. Then you still might have an extended warranty from the credit cardcompany.

I disconntected the ADF.  When I turned on the printer the same ADDF feeder paper jam error popped up.  No change even with the ADF complete disconnected.

Yes, that is how I flossed. Green tab forward (to left) pulled back and forth.

Yes, it boots to this error.
