Hello georgemyint,

I understand that you are having the same problem as everyone else in this thread. I need to find out what printer you have. Please click on this website to find out: Model Number

If your alignment page is not detecting, please follow these instructions in this HP document: Alignment failed

You mentioned that you are receiving different messages on your printer. Could you please clarify the messages?

Hope this helps.

Ashley

I'm having the exact same problem with an Office Depot HP 74XL black ink cartridge.

It worked at first and all of a sudden I am getting the error message that print cartridge not detected.

I've cleaned several times.  There is no explanation for why this doesnot work!   HELP!

I have HP c4580 the same thing was happening to me. After staring at the cartridges for a while I noticed that my color cartridge leaned more to one side than the other. I wiggled the cartidge, noticed it had a lot of wiggle. I shoved the head a q-tip on the side it was leaning to, to staight it out and it WORKED! I'm not a tech guy but from what I can guess the q-tip pushing over the cartidge helped ailign the sensors.

I have had this ongoing problem for ages. I followed the key pattern and it didn't work then I put a q-tip in and did the key pattern and it worked! Surely this is a manufacturer error .. I have HP cartridges in and it still does it! I think these printers should be recalled and replaced with ones that work correctly!!

I just inserted a brand new cartridge--yes it is hp--and I am still getting the message.

The old cartridge (which is running low) does not trigger this message

I had this happen, half full cartridge not recognized by the printer...

This youtube video shows a hack to fix it with a few button pushes!!!

It worked right away for me.

I have just fitted new HP cartridges to my 7520 printer and it says that the yellow one is damaged or missing. I have taken it out and put it back etc but to no avail.
