The guide says scan from computer (as opposed to scanning from printer).  I'm doing that and still cannot scan multiple pages to a single PDF file.  Is it even possible?

Hi griff0530,

I understand you would like to scan multipage documents to a single .pdf file using  your HP Envy 4500, yes this is very possible.  When you are using the HP software on your computer, follow the steps below:

1.  Load the document.

2. Click Scan . A preview of the scan displays (by default).

Important : The Scan Preview feature must be enabled in order to scan multi-page documents into a single file. Additional pages from the original are added to the single file in the Scan Preview window.

3. When the scan preview displays, perform one of the following actions:

Click the Plus sign () on the left side of the window to scan additional pages. If you are not using an ADF, you will need to load the next page of the document onto the scanner glass to add each additional page.

4.  Click Save to capture the scanned file but leave HP Scan open.

5. Click Done to capture the scanned file and close HP Scan.

I found this great information here: How to Scan: Windows 7

If you are using a different Operating system, that is ok the same steps apply. I hope this was what you needed!

Thank you,

I see a solution to scanning mulitpe pages to a single PDF.  However the solution says "Print Preview" feature must be enabled.  After going through HP software and numerous googles the only hit I get is that mentiioned in this solution.

Please tell me where this is enabled.

It can be found in the scan dialog by clicking on, or searching for devices and printers and then double click your printer and open the HP Printer Assistant and then open the scan dialog.  From here you will need to enable the preview mode and add pages by clicking the icon with the plus sign.  This works in Windows 8 as well
