At last I've resolved the problem.

On the XP clients, instead of installing a network printer, I installed it as a local printer and then added a local port!

I have added the MO of my workaround at http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/new-settings-for-printing-from-xp-32-bit-to-win7-usb-printer?

I would have put it here but your images feature is not user-friendly! :indifferent:

can you please post the steps I take if the win 7 computer is the one that has the printer connected to it and I need to be able to print to it from the windows XP computers over the network.  Thank you in advance - I have spent way to much time trying to get this to work
