I have mutliple vertical lines in addition to the scanned image showing to be very light (document is very clear).  I experience this when scanning through the document feeder and on the flatbed.  Any idea how I can get it back to scanning the image as is and without the lines?

Lift the lid, and there is a large glass to lay your copy on if you are making a copy.  When the copy feeds from the tray above and copies, the glass that see's your copy is a small 1" wide glass strip that is the width of the paper.  Even if you can't see something on that tiny glass, clean it thoroughly with glass cleaner.  EVERY time that I have that issue, I clean the glass, but until I really CLEAN it, the vertical lines are still there.  It is always a microscopic dot of something that causes the problem.  Something that I can't see, but the scanner sees very well.  Anyway, I hope this helps you.  This little strip sure does seem to attract dots of goo, so keep it clean, and your problem will resolve itself instantly.  In your case, you may need to clean both glass surfaces.  It sounds like they are both dirty.

Thanks for the feedback.  Most of the time I feed the documents through versus using the glass and it's doing the same thing.  Any suggestions for that?

I usually feed copies through too, so the copier is just looking at your document via that small glass screen to the left of the big glass screen.  If the lines are consistantly in the same spot, then your dirty spot is still dirty.  sometimes you can feel a tiny bump on that tiny glass, but other times, you can't see or feel anything.  I just used Windex to clean mine, and the 3 lines that have been popping up for about a week magically disappeared.  Be aggressive when cleaning your glass, but not so aggressive that you break it.  Your cky spot must be a stubborn one.

Clean that smaller 1" glass strip that is beside the big glass on the printer.  That is the only place that your printer is copying from, when scanning by feeding your document through.  Clean it with glass cleaner, and do a good job.  Don't break the glass, but use a little pressure and clean every inch of that small glass.  when you get the dirty spot off of that glass, your problem will be solved.

You are not cleaning your glass good enough.  A microscopically tiny spec will wreak havoc on your copy.  Clean the big glass and also the small 1" glass to the left of the big glass.  When they are sportless, your problem will be solved.  For some reason, I have to clean my glass frequently.  Windex does a good job of keeping those lines from appearing on my copies, or scans.

One more thing to try, is to unplug your machine, leave it off for about 5 minutes, and let it reboot.  Sometimes a power surge will cause those lines too.  When in doubt, reboot fixes a lot of head scratchers.  Good luck!

Not sure if I was clear......Unplug it from the wall......to let it go completely down for about 5 minutes, and then reboot itself, when you plug back in.

The cleaning didn't resolve my issues; however, I rebooted my printer twice and it seems to have resovled the issue.  Funny how that works!

Cool!
