If you're receiving a message indicating that the cartridges are not intended for use in your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3545 e-All-in-One Printer, there are several steps you can follow to resolve this issue. This message might occur due to a number of reasons including incorrect cartridge installation, compatibility issues, or the use of refurbished or remanufactured cartridges.

Here are the steps to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the problem:

  1. Check Cartridge Compatibility:

    • Ensure that you are using the correct type of ink cartridges for your printer model. The HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3545 requires specific cartridges based on your region. Check the printer's documentation or the printer itself for recommended cartridge numbers.

      • Latin America: 662 Black and 662 Tri-color
      • Europe, Middle East, and Africa: 650 Black and 650 Tri-color
      • Asia-Pacific: 678 Black and 678 Tri-color

  2. Verify Cartridge Installation:

    • Turn on your printer and open the cartridge access door, allowing the cartridge carriage to move to the center.
    • Carefully remove the cartridges and then reinsert them, ensuring they click into place securely.
    • Close the cartridge access door and check if the error message persists.

  3. Check for Protective Tape:

    • Make sure that any protective tape on the cartridge copper-colored contacts or the nozzles has been removed. Exercise caution not to touch the contacts or nozzles.

  4. Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

    • Non-genuine cartridges or those refilled/remanufactured might not work properly with your printer. Using original HP ink cartridges can help in avoiding compatibility issues.

  5. Reset the Printer:

    • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about a minute before plugging it back in and turning it on to reset internal components.
  6. Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

    • If you suspect dirt or debris might be causing the issue, gently wipe the copper-colored contact on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with water. Reinsert and test the cartridges again.

  7. Software and Firmware Update:

    • Ensure that your printer's software and firmware are updated to the latest version. Updates may contain fixes for issues related to cartridge recognition.

  8. Test Cartridges in Another Printer:

    • If possible, test the cartridges in another compatible printer. This can help determine if the issue lies with the cartridges themselves.
