- Configuring HP FutureSmart Printers with Kiwi Syslog Server
To configure HP FutureSmart printers for sending syslog security events to a Kiwi Syslog Server, follow these steps:
1. Download and Install Kiwi Syslog Server
- Download the Kiwi Syslog Server Free Edition from Kiwi Syslog Server Downloads.
- Run the
Kiwi_Syslog_Server_Freeware.setup.exe
file. - Accept the Solarwinds license agreement and proceed with installation.
- Choose to install Kiwi Syslog Server as an application and follow the prompts to complete the installation.
2. Configure HP FutureSmart Printers for Syslog Notifications
- Using Internet Explorer, browse to the Printer IP address.
- Select the "Networking Tab," then go to the "Advanced Tab" in TCP/IP Settings.
- Enter the Syslog server parameters, including the IP address of the Syslog server (Kiwi Syslog Server).
- Set the Syslog Port (e.g., 514 for UDP) if different from the default.
- Select "Enable CCC Logging" to ensure security-related messages are logged.
- Click "Apply."
3. Configure Kiwi Syslog Server for Monitoring HP Printer Security Events
- Open the Kiwi Syslog Server application.
- Select “File,” then “Setup” from the menu.
- Click on “Inputs” in the left menu tree.
- Enter the Printer IP Address in the address field and click the “Add” button.
- Click on “UDP” in the left menu tree.
- Select the "Listen for UDP Syslog messages" checkbox.
- Enter “514” in the UDP Port field.
- Click “OK.”
4. Monitor Kiwi Syslog Server Console for Security Events
- Open the Kiwi Syslog Server console.
- Review any captured security logging entries to monitor HP printer security events.
By following these steps, you will be able to log HP FutureSmart printer security events to the Kiwi Syslog Server effectively.
