Error code: 60.02.00 indicates a paper transport / tray lift mechanism failure in the printer.
  • The printer is unable to lift the paper stack in Tray 2 (main input tray) to the proper position.
  • The tray lift motor or lifting assembly is stuck, blocked, or not responding correctly.

Here are troubleshooting steps you can follow for this printer series:

  1. Power cycle the printer

    • Turn the printer off.
    • Wait a short time.
    • Turn the printer back on.

  2. Check trays and doors

    • Make sure Tray 1 and Tray 2 are properly installed.
    • Confirm the front door is fully closed.
    • On applicable models, check the rear access area/duplexer is seated correctly.

  3. Inspect for jams or obstructions

    • Open accessible doors and paper paths.
    • Remove any stuck paper or foreign objects carefully.
    • Make sure paper guides are adjusted correctly and trays are not overfilled.

  4. Verify paper loading

    • Remove Tray 2 and reload paper correctly.
    • Adjust the guides to the paper size being used.
    • Reinsert the tray completely.

  5. Check optional accessories

    • If using job storage, remove and reseat the USB thumb drive.
    • If an optional tray or accessory is installed, make sure it is fitted correctly.

  6. Verify printer startup and reports

    • Use the control panel to print a Configuration Report if the printer becomes ready.
    • Check printer status from the control panel.

  7. Check power connection

    • Plug the printer directly into a grounded AC outlet.
    • Use only the HP-provided power cable.
    • HP notes that some UPS backup systems might not provide enough power for LaserJet printers.

  8. Update firmware

    • HP recommends updating the printer firmware to get the latest fixes and features.

  9. Open HP Embedded Web Server/Event Log

    • If the printer is network-connected and accessible, use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) and review the Event Log for printer events and errors.
