- HP DeskJet 2375 – Troubleshooting Print Issues on macOS Sequ...
The HP DeskJet 2375 All-in-One Printer might be detected by a Mac running macOS Sequoia, but printing does not start.
The printer can appear as Idle or available in Printers & Scanners. When a document is sent to print, the printer power light might blink, but the document does not print and the print job might not appear normally in the queue.
During software installation, HP Easy Start might detect the printer but report that there is nothing available to install, or the installation might stop before the printer is fully configured.
Symptoms
- HP DeskJet 2375 is detected by the Mac but does not print.
- The printer appears as Idle or available in Printers & Scanners.
- The power light blinks after a print command is sent, but printing does not start.
- A print job does not appear or process correctly in the macOS print queue.
- HP Easy Start detects the printer but cannot complete the software installation.
- Scanning software installs, but printer setup does not complete.
- Printing works through another operating system, but not through macOS Sequoia.
The issue can occur when the printer configuration or macOS printing system is incomplete after an operating-system update or printer setup.
HP documents that resetting the macOS printing system can resolve connection problems, incomplete driver setups, and print queue problems.
For compatible printers, macOS can also set up an HP printer using available built-in printing support without requiring an additional traditional print driver.
Troubleshooting Steps
1: Check the USB connection
The HP DeskJet 2375 is part of the HP DeskJet 2300 printer family.
- Turn on the printer.
- Make sure the printer is in a ready state.
- Disconnect the USB cable from both the printer and Mac.
- Inspect the cable and connectors for visible damage.
- Reconnect the USB cable securely to the USB port on the rear of the printer.
- Connect the other end directly to the Mac when possible.
- If an adapter or USB hub is being used, verify that the connection remains stable.
- Wait for macOS to detect the printer.
2: Update macOS
Before configuring a USB printer through the macOS built-in printing system:
- Click the Spotlight icon.
- Search for Software Update.
- Open the software update settings.
- Install available macOS updates.
- Restart the Mac if prompted.
- Turn the printer off and then on again.
Keeping macOS current can provide available printer support required by the operating system.
3: Remove and add the printer again
- On the Mac, open System Settings.
- Select Printers & Scanners.
- Select the HP DeskJet printer if it is already listed.
- Remove the existing printer configuration.
- Make sure the printer is turned on and connected through USB.
- Return to Printers & Scanners.
- Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax or the Add button.
- Wait for the HP DeskJet 2375 to appear.
- Select the printer.
- Complete the prompts to add it.
- Open a simple document and try printing.
macOS can use available built-in printing support when setting up compatible HP printers.
4: Reset the macOS printing system
If removing and adding the printer does not resolve the issue, reset the printing system.
Important: A printing-system reset removes all HP and non-HP printers and scanners from the Mac. It also clears print jobs and saved print settings. All required printers and scanners must be added again afterward.
- Click the Spotlight icon.
- Search for and open Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click the printer list, or press Control while clicking it.
- Select Reset printing system.
- Complete the reset.
- Restart the HP DeskJet 2375.
- Return to Printers & Scanners.
- Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax or the Add button.
- Select the HP DeskJet 2375.
- Click Add.
- Send a test document to the printer.
Resetting the printing system can correct incomplete printer configurations, connection issues, and print-queue problems.
5: Install and use the HP app
HP recommends the HP app for printer setup and access to printing, scanning, support, and troubleshooting features.
- Remove any incomplete printer setup from Printers & Scanners if necessary.
- Download the HP app using the HP-recommended setup method.
- Open the HP app.
- Make sure the printer is powered on.
- Connect the printer to the Mac through USB.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to add and configure the HP DeskJet printer.
- Allow the setup process to finish completely.
- Try printing a document.
6: Run Diagnose & Fix
If the printer has been added but still does not print:
- Open the HP app.
- Select the printer.
- Open Diagnose & Fix from the available printer or diagnostics options.
- Click Start.
- Keep the HP app open while the analysis runs.
- Review the diagnostic results.
- Complete the recommended corrections.
- Try printing again.
Diagnose & Fix can identify and correct common printing and connection problems.
7: Check HP software availability for the operating system
Check the HP DeskJet 2300 All-in-One Printer series Software and Driver Downloads page and select the operating system.
If the installed macOS version is not listed, a dedicated HP software or driver package might not be provided for that operating-system version. In this situation, use HP-supported setup methods available through macOS or the HP app rather than installing an older driver package intended for a previous macOS release.
