Please follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Step 1: Ensure Proper Printer Setup

  • Make sure that the printer is properly set up and that the ink cartridges are installed.
  • Confirm that the printer is turned on and connected to your computer or network.

Step 2: Check Scanner Connections and Settings

  • Verify that the scanner lid is closed properly.
  • Ensure that the document is placed correctly on the scanner glass.
  • Make sure you have selected the appropriate settings for scanning in the HP printer software or app.

Step 3: Restart Devices

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Step 4: Verify Network Connection (if applicable)

  • For network-connected printers, ensure that your computer and printer are on the same network.
  • Check network settings and printer IP address using the HP Smart App or the printer's control panel menu.

Step 5: Update Printer Software and Drivers

  • Download and install the latest version of the printer software from 123.hp.com.
  • Update any drivers related to the scanner from the HP website.

Step 6: Test Scanner Function

  • Try scanning a different document or photo to see if the issue persists.
  • Use HP Smart App to diagnose and fix common scanner problems.
