Error 62.80.13 indicates a printhead hardware or communication failure.
This usually happens when:

  • The printer cannot initialize or detect the printhead correctly
  • There is a fault in the ink delivery system
  • Electrical contacts between printhead and carriage are dirty or damaged
  • Firmware or initialization sequence fails during startup

Troubleshooting Step

1.Perform a Hard Reset
  • Turn ON the printer
  • Disconnect the power cable from rear
  • Wait 60 seconds
  • Plug directly into wall outlet (no surge protector)
  • Turn ON

Clears temporary firmware faults

Reinitializes printhead communication

Eliminates voltage-related glitches affecting carriage electronics

2.Check Ink Cartridge Installation
  • Open cartridge access door
  • Remove ALL cartridges
  • Inspect for:
    • Protective tape still present
    • Ink leakage
  • Reinstall cartridges firmly until they click

3.Clean Cartridge & Printhead Contacts
  • Power ON printer → open access door
  • Remove cartridges
  • Locate gold/copper electrical contacts
  • Clean using:
    • Lint-free cloth slightly damp with distilled water
  • Allow to dry for 5–10 minutes
  • Reinstall cartridges

4.Remove and Reseat Printhead
  • Remove cartridges
  • Release printhead latch/lever
  • Carefully pull out printhead
  • Inspect for:
    • Ink buildup
    • Burn marks (critical failure)
  • Reinstall securely
  • Reinsert cartridges

5.Run Printer Self-Test / Internal Cleaning

From panel/app:

  • Settings → Tools → Printhead Cleaning / Alignment

6.Update Firmware
  • Use:
    • HP App OR
    • Printer Embedded Web Server (enter printer IP in browser)
  • Install latest firmware

7.Check Carriage Movement
  • With printer OFF, gently move carriage (if accessible)
  • Look for:
    • Obstructions (paper, debris)
    • Ink buildup on rail
  • Clean rail lightly if needed
