Error B8082796 on the HP Officejet Pro 8035 is typically a firmware, printer initialization, or hardware-related system error. The printer may become stuck during startup, display the error on the touchscreen, and refuse to enter Ready/Print mode.

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn the printer ON.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Press and hold the printer Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet.
  • Turn the printer back on.

Step 2: Verify the Printer Boots Without Peripheral Connections

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect:
    • USB cable
    • Ethernet cable
    • Fax line
    • External storage devices (if connected)
  • Turn the printer back on.

Step 3: Check for Carriage Obstructions

  • Open the ink access door.
  • Wait for the carriage to attempt movement.
  • Inspect:
    • Torn paper
    • Ink buildup
    • Foreign objects
    • Packaging materials
  • Gently move the carriage left and right if the printer is powered off.

Step 4: Reseat the Ink Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove all cartridges.
  • Check cartridges for:
    • Damaged contacts
    • Ink leakage
    • Improper seating
  • Reinstall cartridges firmly.
  • Restart the printer.

Step 5: Clean Cartridge Electrical Contacts

  • Remove cartridges.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Clean:
    • Copper-colored contacts on cartridges
    • Corresponding contacts inside the printer
  • Allow to dry completely.
  • Reinstall cartridges.

Step 6: Update or Recover Firmware

If the printer reaches a usable state:

  • Connect printer to the internet.
  • Go to:
    • Setup
    • Printer Maintenance
    • Update Printer
  • Install available firmware updates.

Alternatively:

  • Download the HP Firmware Update Utility.
  • Connect the printer via USB.
  • Perform the firmware update.

Step 7 Check Scanner Initialization

During startup:

  • Listen for scanner movement.
  • Observe if the scanner lamp illuminates briefly.
  • Watch for:
    • Grinding noises
    • Clicking sounds
    • Scanner stopping abruptly

Step 8: Test with a Different Power Source

  • Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet.
  • Avoid:
    • Surge protectors
    • UPS devices
    • Extension cords

Step 9: To use Cold Reset to restore settings
Cold Reset removes all user configured settings, including saved administrator passwords, network
configurations, stored jobs, selected country/region and language, Address Book entries, and Web Services
account information.

You can use this feature if you are selling the printer or giving it to someone else and want to be sure that all
personal information has been removed.

  • From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard and then touch (Setup).
  • Touch Printer Maintenance.
  • Touch Restore.
  • Touch Cold Reset.

A message appears, stating what settings will be restored.

  • Touch Continue.
