Overview
After updating an HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e All-in-One Printer (SKU 40Q48B) to firmware version 6.23.6.5, some users report that the Wi‑Fi network option disappears from the printer’s Network menu, preventing wireless printing and connectivity.
This issue affects:
- Wireless printing functionality
- HP App integration
- Wi‑Fi Direct setup
Without the Wi‑Fi option, the printer cannot connect to home or office wireless networks, leaving USB or Ethernet as the only working connection methods.

Check your printer to confirm if it meets all of the following criteria:

(This number is available on a label located inside the printer front door.)
Firmware Version
- 6.23.6.5
To verify, touch:
Menu → Info → Printer, then scroll down to check the firmware version.
Symptoms

Prepare a USB flash drive
Prepare a USB flash drive using a Windows PC or Mac.
Windows OS (File Explorer)
Prepare a USB flash drive from File Explorer.

Insert the USB flash drive into a computer.

Open File Explorer > This PC.

Right-click the USB flash drive, and then click Format.

In the File system drop-down, select FAT32.

(Optional) Enter a Volume label.

Select Quick Format, and then click Start.

Click OK.

Wait for the process to complete, and then click OK.

Verify the File system is FAT32.
macOS (Disk Utility)
Prepare a USB flash drive from Disk Utility.

Insert the USB flash drive into a Mac.

Search for and open Disk Utility.

In the left pane, select the USB flash drive (not the volume under it).

Click Erase and configure the following:

Name: HP_FIRMWARE (for example)

Format: MS‑DOS (FAT)

Scheme: Master Boot Record

Click Erase.

Wait for the process to complete, and then click Done.

Verify the Format is MS‑DOS (FAT).
