The HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e displays a flashing an  error code 8AF32712 on HP OfficeJet Pro 9000 and 8000 series printers indicates a firmware or internal system failure that may cause the printer to freeze and the control panel to become unresponsive.

Troubleshooting Steps

Reset the printer

For HP printers with persistent error conditions, resetting the printer is a first troubleshooting step.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and then to the printer.

Update the printer firmware

If the issue is related to firmware, HP recommends updating the printer firmware when possible.

Restore the printer to factory defaults

Note: For HP+ printers, after restoring the printer, register the printer again using the HP account that was used during the initial printer setup.

  1. On the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch Setup.
  2. Touch Printer Maintenance.
  3. Touch Restore.
  4. Touch Restore Factory Defaults.
  5. When the message stating that the factory defaults will be restored appears, touch Continue.
