- HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e: “ScanToPCActivationApp – Scan to com...
The “ScanToPCActivationApp – Scan to computer is no longer activated”message indicates that the printer’s Scan to Computer feature is currently not enabled on the PC. For the HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e All-in-One Printer, the Scan to Computer function must be activated through the HP scanning software installed on the computer.
Troubleshooting steps
-
Confirm the printer is fully set up
- Power on the printer.
- On the printer display, select your language and country/region.
- Make sure setup is completed
- If setup was incomplete, scan features to PC might not be active yet.
-
Reinstall or open HP App and re-add the printer
- On your PC, install or open HP App.
- Choose Set Up a New Printer.
- Let HP App search for the printer and select it.
- Follow prompts to connect it to the wireless network
-
Make sure the printer and computer are on the same Wi‑Fi network
- Verify the PC is connected to the same wireless network used during printer setup.
- If the printer was moved to a different network/router, reconnect it through HP App.
-
Restart both printer and computer
- Turn the printer off and on.
- Restart the PC.
-
Open and close the front door, then restart the printer
- Open the printer’s front door.
- Close it fully.
- Press Power to turn the printer off, then on again.
-
Check firmware version
- On the control panel, go to: Menu > Tools > Maintenance > Firmware
- Confirm the printer firmware information.
-
Complete printer alignment if setup or printhead service was recently performed
- If the printer was recently unboxed, serviced, or had printhead work done, ensure alignment finished successfully.
- For 9120 series, you must scan the alignment page to complete alignment:
- Open scanner lid
- Place alignment page face-down on the scanner glass
- Align it with the indicated corner
- Close lid
- Select Scan Reason: On the 9120 series, alignment is not complete until the page is scanned. Incomplete setup/alignment can interfere with scanner-related workflows.
- Ensure genuine HP printhead/setup cartridges were installed correctly
- If applicable, verify the printhead is latched properly and the SETUP cartridges were inserted fully.
- After installation, allow initialization to complete and complete the alignment scan.
Reasons
- HP App / printer software is not installed correctly or the printer is no longer associated with the PC.
- The printer and PC are not on the same Wi‑Fi network.(2.4ghz)
- Printer setup was not fully completed, including alignment steps required on the 9120 series.
- A firmware-related state or communication issue may be affecting normal operation.
