HP Series 6000E printers inform you of ink deficiency primarily through blinking lights on the control panel. These indications help you understand the status of the printer and what actions to take.

Here’s how the printer communicates ink-related issues and the steps to troubleshoot them:

Indication of Ink Deficiency

  • Cartridge Access Door Light: The light associated with the cartridge access door on your printer will blink or remain on if there is an ink-related issue.

  • Ink Cartridge Light: This light will turn on if the cartridge is low on ink, counterfeit, or previously used. The HP printer software or app can provide more specific details regarding the issue.

Detailed Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check the Ink Cartridge Light:

    • If the light is on, check the HP app or printer software for detailed messages about ink levels or potential issues with the cartridges.

  2. Press the Resume Button:

    • If the ink cartridge light is on due to low ink, pressing the Resume button will allow you to continue printing temporarily. Change the cartridge when print quality declines.

  3. Inspect the Cartridge Installation:

    • Open the cartridge access door and ensure the cartridges are properly installed. Check if any tape was left on the cartridge contacts and remove it if present.

  4. Replace or Reinstall Cartridges:

    • If the problem persists, try removing the ink cartridge and reinstalling it again. If the issue continues, replacing the cartridge might be necessary.

  5. Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

    • Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges to avoid compatibility issues and unexpected errors.

  6. Close Cartridge Access Door:

    • Always ensure the cartridge access door is properly closed after inspection or changing cartridges to avoid any errors.

  7. Carriage Jam:

    • If the carriage inside the printer stalls, press the Cancel button to cancel any active print job. Check for obstructions and resolve any carriage jam issues. Carriage jam or E3 error provides more information on resolving carriage jams.
