If you want to adjust print margins, reduce white borders, or print content closer to the edge of the paper on an HP Smart Tank 7600 series printer when printing through the HP app. Margin settings may also need to be adjusted when documents appear shifted or are not aligned as expected.
By default, HP printers leave a small margin between the printed content and the edge of the paper. This margin helps ensure reliable paper handling and print quality. Depending on the print settings, paper type, and application being used, users can modify margin behavior or enable borderless printing where supported.
Adjust Print Margins Using the HP App
1: Open the HP App
Launch the HP app on your Windows device.
Select your HP Smart Tank 7600 Series printer.
2: Open Print Settings
Open the document or photo you want to print.
Click Print.
Select HP Smart Tank 7600 Series as the printer.
Click More Settings, Printer Preferences, or Print Settings.
3: Configure Margin Options
Review the available layout and margin settings and choose the option that best fits your printing needs:
Standard
Prints using the printer's default margin settings.
A small border remains between the printed content and the paper edge.
Use Application Settings
Uses the margins defined in the application being used, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, or Adobe Reader.
Recommended when custom margins are required.
Borderless Printing (If Available)
Prints closer to the edge of the page and minimizes white borders.
Availability depends on the selected paper size and media type.
Oversize Printing (If Available)
Prints on larger media so that margins can be trimmed after printing.
Useful when edge-to-edge output is required.
4: Print the Document
Verify the paper size selected in the HP app matches the paper loaded in the printer.
Click Print.
Review the output and adjust settings if necessary.
Adjust Margins from Within the Application
If precise margin control is required:
Open the document in the application being used.
Navigate to Page Layout, Page Setup, or Margins.
Adjust:
Top Margin
Bottom Margin
Left Margin
Right Margin
Save the changes.
Print the document through the HP app.
Note: Application-defined margins may override certain printer margin settings.
If Printed Content Appears Shifted or Misaligned
Incorrect print positioning may be caused by a printhead alignment issue rather than a margin setting.
Align the Printhead Using the HP App
Load plain white paper into the input tray.
Open the HP app.
Select the printer.
Navigate to Diagnostics, Tools, or Print Quality Tools.
Select Align Printheads.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
If prompted, scan the alignment page to complete the process.
Align from the Printer Control Panel
On the printer control panel, open Settings.
Select Printer Maintenance.
Select Align Printhead.
Tap Continue.
Follow any instructions shown on the alignment page.
After adjusting the print settings in the HP app or modifying the document margins within the application, the HP Smart Tank 7600 Series printer should print using the selected margin configuration. If print placement remains inaccurate, performing a printhead alignment can help improve print positioning and output quality.
