HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
Adobe has permanently disabled the Flash Player as of 12-Jan-2021, and as the HP Solution center software is based on Flash, it may not work as expected.
Here are two other compatible scanning apps, which can be used to scan your photo or document:
- HP Scan Extended: You can Download-Save-Install > HP Scan Extended
- If the link above does not work, copy and paste the ftp address below into your browser: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
Or--
- HP Smart: You can download and Install HP Smart app from Microsoft store. Here is the link: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9wzdncrfhwlh?hl=en-us&gl=BR
For more information on how to use this app, refer: https://www.hpsmart.com/us/en
NOTE: You must have the HP printer driver software installed on the computer to use these apps. If you did not uninstall HP Printer driver software, then you should have it already.
OPTIONAL: Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
- Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
- Right-Click exe > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
HP Scan Extended features include (and are not limited to): Single, Multiple scans, Image and PDF scans, Email as PDF / JPEG, Source selection, Page Size choices include Auto-Detect (extracts image / document boundary). May include OCR (Save as Editable Text).
We would like to encourage you to post a new topic in the community so our member will be able to help you as well, here is the link to post.

has this fixed for anyone?
Why isn't HP doing automatic fixes with the updates?
It took me too long to figure what was wrong. HP should have sent us information about
this before Flash stopped.
Facebook fixed games, HP should be able to fix this problem.
Be sure and send us updates when the printer communicates for them.
Thanks.

I tried a lot of the solutions posted by all you lovely Forum users. Maybe it was me but none of them worked.
My HP scanner was about 10 years old and my HP colour laser printer was starting to play up too so ..... bought myself a Brother colour printer / scanner for just over £250.
Job done ..... HP have now been eradicated from my office and I will never buy their products again.

1Mvarumugam, if you have an HP all-in-one printer, then this should solve the problem:
https://borncity.com/win/2021/01/29/hp-solution-center-broken-due-to-missing-flash-jan-2021/#comment...
However, if you have an HP ScanJet scanner, I'll need you to gather some information, if you'd like me to solve it; see the last 12 lines of this comment:

everyone seems to be obsessed with scanning, try aligning your print heads, you won't get very good photos without this.
None of the fixes are mentioning this and other utilities in Tools

Dave_Burton has come up with a viable solution for scanning, doing what HP should have done way before Flash Player was eliminated. Shame on you HP! How can you expect to generate brand loyalty when you screw over your customers?

Dave_Burton,
The BAT file "remedy" that changes the date also works wonderfully here on this system because of still having a Flash installed. I commented in that thread. I just have to delay over 10 seconds on this machine vs. his 2 seconds. Snore. Too many TSRs on this machine's 8GB of ram.

Loaded the HP Scan Extended and got back some functionality... some. Can't trouble shoot a problem like shadows on type and images when using anything other than pure black because of the loss of Solution Center ("alignment" doesn't solve the prblem). HP got the best of me in the end because I installed two new cartidges that would have paid for almost half the price of a decent new printer.

Hello
I have a HP Photosmart C3100 which stopped being able to scan using the HP Solution Centre due to Flash Player's demise. I am on an older Toshiba laptop (about 8 years old) using Windows 7.
I downloaded, ran install and have tried the HP Scan Extended. The application opens, allows me to ask for a scan, has the printer move as if it was scanning, shows a bar of progress, then when the scan is done, it flashes a small blue outline shape as if it was going to show me the scan and then that vanishes leaving me with a working window of options to continue....but all greyed out....except for the lower left box in blue outline and a plus sign. I have tried that for "additional scans"...it goes into action again and then no display and all greyed out options. ...could you help me? Dawn Thank YOU

Dawn54, I too have a C3100 printer scanner too. What I eventually did was download the most recent version of the installation software and ran it until it finished. It installed Flash into the HP folders and now Solutions Center works fine. There is no Flash in Control Panel and none of the browsers will see it. Try that.

Dawn_54 & Maurice_Reed,
There are three basic "remedies" for your issues with Flash.
One: Simply change the date BACK to before 1/12/21 and open Solution Center as always (IF and only IF, you still have flash installed and not removed). Then as soon as Solution Center loads, change the date back. Keep the Change time window open during SC load. There is a utility which can automate this process for you called "runasdate."
Two: there is a BAT file floating around in another thread which you will have to most likely adjust the delay time for your particular machine to make it work. It changes the date for a delay time only. You will need to have flash installed for this one.
Three: Another batch/cmd file which does NOT use flash at all, it simply calls the HP module up which does not use flash so you can scan as always. Just a scanner.
Note: If you want to view ink levels etc, you will NEED to have flash onboard, and have to load Solution Center proper. Dave_Burton has many "remedies" (CMD files) which do work well, the other user's BAT file to simply change the date while SC loads just works simpler for me. I also still have FLASH installed, so I can run SC if needed. I suggest that you don't run the "hack" to change FLASH to "never ending." I believe it is much safer overall to momentarily do a change date to load SC and then revert date as to deny any further access to FLASH by anything else.
Hope this helps.

I really regret buying a HP Envy 6032 not just because it doesn't photocopy or scan documents but it appears there are so many dissatisfied customers/users of HP products here. Also noted that most support actions appear to be only for Windows operated PC's and NO support for MacOS or iOS. What a joke, but hey I'm not laughing. I think I'll return my product and seek a full refund and buy another Brother multifunction product. Never again HP.

I have a photosmart Scanner/Copier attached to an old Windows XP 32 bit desktop. Since Flash has been withdrawn the Solution Center does not work and I can`t scan in documents. I understand Marquitos and LegalMagpie have solutions that work for them. Please could they let me know at g mail. Thanks.

HP Updater popped up tonight saying it had updated software for my printer. I gave it access to the internet. It did its thing and disappeared. I have no idea what was updated. JessikaV and WanderP, do you know what was updated?

We are in Germany, and the link https://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi is blocked with message number 403.
I assume this is aproblem with the EU privacy laws.
The Microsoft store download works well, on our eight HP printers of various ages.
Minor comment: The HP Scan and Capture program does not install a desktop Icon , as the old HP Solution Center did.
It would be a nice option to have because "some old foggies are creatures of habit".
(Yes, we use the solution of attaching HP Scan and Capture to the Task List. We are not that incompetent, yet!)

Congrats, HP! You did it again! So you can keep the HP Solution Center updated to keep on bombarding with ads about buying ink and other supplies, but you can't send an update forseeing something big like, i don't know, ADOBE FLASH NOT BEING SUPPORTED ANYMORE?? Who is in charge of this? Worst part is, app support gets away with this with just an "oops" and then goes back to having coffee.
