How to Create Custom Paper Sizes on HP Printers
Creating custom paper sizes for HP printers allows you to print on non-standard paper dimensions. Below are detailed steps for both Windows and macOS operating systems.
For Windows
-
Using Printer Properties:
- Load the custom paper into the printer's main tray and adjust the paper width guides snugly against the paper edges.
- Open the document you wish to print, then click File and select Print.
- In the Print window, go to Preferences, Properties, or Printer Properties
- Navigate to the Paper/Quality tab and click on Custom.
- Click New, enter a name for your custom paper size, specify the width and height, then click OK.
- From the Paper Size drop-down menu, choose the name of the custom paper size you just created.
-
Using Print Server Properties:
- Open Printers & Scanners from the search bar to access the printer settings.
- Scroll down and click on Print server properties.
- If prompted by User Account Control, click Continue.
- On the Forms tab, check Create a new form. Enter your custom paper size by naming it in the Form name box and setting the width and height.
- After saving the form, check that it's listed in Forms on and click OK.
For macOS
- Create Custom Paper Sizes:
- Load the custom paper into the main tray and adjust the paper width guides.
- Open your document, then go to File > Print.
- From the Paper Size menu, select Manage Custom Sizes.
- Click the + sign to add a new paper size. Double-click the default name and enter a unique name for your paper.
- Set the width, height, and optionally, the non-printable area, then click OK.
- In the print preview window, select your custom paper size and click Print.
Notes
- Ensure that custom paper size dimensions do not exceed the actual paper size to avoid quality issues.
- If your printer model does not support the custom size, it won't appear in the list. Confirm your printer's specifications for supported paper sizes.
By following these steps, you can print documents on any paper size that your HP printer supports.
