Our black ink levels claim to be full,  but the ink prints striped.  I've done both levels of head cleaning,  with zero improvement.  I don't know what else to do.  Those lines should be solid black

To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:

  • May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.
  • What happens when you make photocopies on the printer?
  • Which application are you trying to print from? Does the print preview look good?
  • What happens when you print text documents?

1. Product number: M2U85A

2. I had not thought of that.  It still comes through light and inconsistent.  See image...left is original,  right is copy.

3. Printing from a browser/ downloaded image,  typically Google chrome.  The print preview looks normal.  

4. Even in printing the diagnostic pages or printer head cleaning,  the text does not come through or is striped.

I see that you're experiencing print quality issues and I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.

 

This could be an issue with the ink cartridge or the printer itself. If you have already performed the steps from the document  Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

 

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
