Hi, I cannot print. Even though my printer is connected to the network, it is saying it is not connected to the internet. I have tried resetting, turning off and on etc. In the LCD window there is a flashing envelope (email notification?) but I do not know how to check this.

The information light is flashing constantly. When I press to get the info printout it says it's connected to network and not internet.

The printer light is on, the wifi light is on constant.

When I try to scan a doc, it says 'The scanner is busy, Wait for the scanner to finish and try again, or close any apps that are using the scanner'.

I do not have any apps open that could be using the scanner. I keep restarting the computer, then starting the scanner as soon as the PC is on, before any apps are even open.

Please could you help?

Thanks

Hi @Beenie_152,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

  1. Ensure the Printer is Connected to Wi-Fi:
    • On the printer’s control panel, check if the Wi-Fi light is solid (not blinking). A blinking light usually indicates connectivity issues.
    • Ensure the printer is within the range of your Wi-Fi router.
    • Make sure there are no obstructions or electronic devices that could interfere with the Wi-Fi signal.
  2. Download and Install HP Print and Scan Doctor:
  3. Run the Tool:
    • Open HP Print and Scan Doctor, and follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and resolve the connectivity issue.
  4. Restart Printer and Router:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
    • Turn off your router, wait for a few minutes, then turn it back on.
    • After the router has fully restarted, plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  5. Re-initiate Wi-Fi Setup:
    • On the printer’s control panel, press the Wireless (Wi-Fi) button to enter Wi-Fi setup mode.
    • Use the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device to reconfigure the Wi-Fi connection.
      • Download the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store (HP Smart).
      • Open the app and click the + sign to add a new printer.
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to the Wi-Fi network.
  6. Ensure Firmware is Up-to-Date:
    • Go to the HP Support website.
    • Enter your printer model (HP DeskJet 2722) and check for firmware updates.
    • Download and install any available updates.
  7. Clear Print Jobs:
    • Open the Control Panel on your computer.
    • Navigate to Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click your HP DeskJet 2722 printer and select See what’s printing.
    • Cancel any pending print jobs.
  8. Resolve Flashing Envelope:
    • The flashing envelope might be an email notification or ePrint alert. Ensure that your printer’s ePrint service is configured correctly.
    • Log in to your HP Smart account (if available) to manage ePrint settings.
    • From the printer’s LCD screen, access the Settings menu and review any email notifications.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your helpful support! I tried all of your suggestions, and managed to get the printer back online. I called HP support also and they took me through some network settings on my PC.

We got to the end of support tips, and it seems like my printer is actually malfunctioning (it will not feed paper through and all lights blink when trying to print) so they advised to buy a new one.

I have tried everything and unfortunately on this occasion it does seem to be that the printer is genuinely broken.

My new printer is arriving tomorrow and I will connect this to my current Instant Ink subscription. I still have a colour cartridge left over from this old printer but I guess they'll send a postal return bag for the cartridge.

Thank you so much.
