HP Envy Photo 7134

A friend owns a HP Envy Photo 7134.  I said I would help out.  I think the printer has be sitting a while (she uses it occasionally for her child).  The original error states Cartridge Problem - Remove and reinstall the indicated cartridge, making sure it is correctly installed.  Please note that this is the black setup cartridge.  I have purchased a replacement cartridge (HP 303 original product) but when this is put in the printer, I get please insert SETUP cartridge.   I have reset the printer and flashed the firmware but still get caught.  The printer does not go any further than that.  I can't use the touch panel.  I can connect using the smart app on PC and mobile.  The calibration runs through most the way printing out black ink test page before dropping back to the SETUP cartridge error.  I believe the solution is to reset in a specific mode (OOBE) but there are no instructions available to do this.  Can you assist please.

@Lawrence_Kerr, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to use the ink cartridge. If you are getting a Setup ink cartridge error, yes we have to perform an OOB reset on the printer to resolve this.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
