I am getting a Error 3 message flashing. Printed something with no problem and a few minutes later tried to print something else and the error message came up. I have tried un & re-installing the ink cartridges, checked for paper jam (nothing), unplugged and re-plugged. Also did a hard reset, no solution. And I even lubricated the cartridge rail. Nothing has worked. Any ideas?

Hi @ScottMM1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're receiving an Error 3 flashing on your HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer, even though it had just completed a print job. You've already tried several good steps, including reseating ink cartridges, checking for paper jams, unplugging and replugging the device, and even performing a hard reset and lubricating the cartridge rail. I appreciate your thorough troubleshooting efforts so far!
Try the Following Steps
1. Re-check for Obstructions
Even if nothing is jammed, gently inspect:
- The carriage rail for bits of paper or debris
- The cartridge access area for loose parts or dried ink buildup
- Make sure the carriage moves freely when the printer is powered off
Gently move the carriage left and right by hand while the printer is off.
2. Reset the Printer Again (Full Power Cycle)
- With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the rear.
- Unplug the other end from the wall.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn on the printer.
Let it initialize fully and check if the error clears.
3. Update Printer Firmware (via HP Smart)
Make sure the printer has the latest firmware:
- Open HP Smart on your PC.
- Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings (or Embedded Web Server).
- Under Tools > Printer Updates, click Check for Updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
