Hi @TLYNN3,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 6455e printer is making a constant high-pitched whining noise, this could be caused by several issues, including mechanical problems, issues with the power supply, or interference from other devices. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

Check for Obstructions:

  • Open the printer and inspect for any paper jams or foreign objects that might be causing the noise. Remove any obstructions carefully.

Inspect the Rollers and Cartridges:

  • Ensure that the rollers and ink cartridges are properly installed and that there are no issues with their movement. Sometimes, misaligned or damaged rollers can produce noise.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve electronic glitches.

Firmware and Software Updates:

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Relocate the Printer:

  • Move the printer to a different location, away from other electronic devices, to rule out interference that might be causing the noise.

Check for Power Supply Issues:

  • Sometimes, the power supply unit can cause whining noises. Try plugging the printer into a different outlet to see if the noise changes.

Cooling Fan Issues:

  • If the noise is coming from the cooling fan, it may be dirty or malfunctioning. Cleaning the fan or replacing it might resolve the issue, but this should typically be done by a professional to avoid damage.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
