When I tried to install replacement ink cartridges, I got repeated Error messages (OXC4E....) and began to detect a bad smell coming from the printer. It is only 13 months old (1 month out of warranty, of course!). I'm afraid the printer is fried, figuratively and literally.  Why should I buy another HP printer?  Anyone have experience with that error code or similar?

@jhskyline, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to use the printer due to this error.

To assist you better, did you see smoke coming out of the printer or was it a burning/fore smell?

Are you using HP ink cartridges?

Install the old ink cartridges and check if it works fine. By this, we can know if the replacement ink cartridges are defective.

Also, perform the steps mentioned in this document - Ink cartridge errors

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
