Printer was working fine.  Then I get this long error code.  I have unplugged the printer many times, different error code each time.  Ink cartridges are locked.

Do I just throw the printer away?  Very frustrated.

A warm welcome to HP Forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

Most of the inkjet printer control panel error codes can be cleared by power resetting the printer and cleaning the cartridge electrical contacts. Let's try these steps:

1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector

2) Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door

3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)

4) Clean the electrical contacts, refer to solution 3 from this document.

5) Plug the power cord back into the printer

6) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges.

Let me know how it goes!

I have unplugged the printer many times.  The ink cartridges are locked and can’t be moved.   It is a shame to have a good printer just quit with no solution.

It sounds like the printer carriage is jammed. You may use the steps available here to clear any possible carriage jams.

I followed your steps.  No success.  There wasn’t a paper jam.

I opened the printer.

Unplugged printer from back of printer.

The print cartridges are stuck on the right side and will not move.

There is no way that I can see how to move the cartridges.

Sounds like a lost cause.

Will not purchase another HP printer.
